Clematis 'Lady in Red'

Large flowers having pointed red sepals suffused with orange. The orange tint is more likely to occur in the spring flowering and soon fades. 'Lady in Red' is listed by the breeders as having beige stamens, though the red connectives can dominate the colouring. The cultivar was introduced just before the Fairs retired and closed their 'Valley Clematis' nursery; it is now quite hard to find.
