Clematis 'Oonagare Ichigoo' OONAGARE

Large purple flowers sometimes with a white bar. Anthers green-yellow on whitish filaments. The International Clematis Register and Checklist 2002 suggests that the cultivar name comes from the name of the district and product number. Our Japanese contact tells us that 'oonagare' means 'big stream' because, when a plant has many flowers, it looks like a waterfall; she also suggests that if it is treated as a Group 2 clematis it will flower in May.
