This cultivar appears in the third edition of Ernest Markham's 'Clematis'. He describes it as semi-double and purple-blue but gives no other information. We had this form listed as 'probably lost to cultivation' but have now received pictures from Japan which suggest that it is alive and well there. However it is possible that this is 'Daniel Deronda' in its double form mis-labelled.
