Clematis 'Jackmanii Splendida'

Described as a variant of C x jackmanii (sic) in 1896 by Le Bêle in the Bulletin de la Sociètè d'Horticulture de la Sarthe. On that basis, deep purple flowers with green stamens. The International Clematis Register and Checklist 2002 notes that this was probably a mutation with the inflorescence 'tufted at the top'. Now lost to cultivation.
