Clematis 'Silver Lining'
This cultivar was exhibited in 1961 at the RHS who recorded the fact in their proceedings, but without a description. Jim Fisk listed 'Silver Lining' in his catalogue the following year as being 'on the way'. It is not known whether this was another, or the same, cultivar. The Jim Fisk listing was for a flower with royal purple tepals, silver on the outside.
In compiling the International Clematis Register and Checklist 2002 the then International Registrar was unable to track down the origins of this cultivar. Private correspondence with a Clematis on the Web contact suggests that it may have been raised in the UK by the late Frank Watkinson who knew Jim Fisk well.
