Clematis 'Slowianka'

The International Register and Checklist of Clematis 2002 describes this clematis as having red flowers with creamy yellow filaments and anthers; indeed two photos we have seen from Ken Woolfenden (one shown on this page) depict a deep red flower. However, Szczepan Marczynski writing in Clematis International 2003 describes the form as "deep purple". Malgorzata Otsubo's photographs were taken when Brother Stefan Franczak showed her round his garden in October 2005. The name 'Slowianka' means 'Slavic girl'.
