Clematis flammula var maritima

Valencia University Botanical Garden, in Spain, has a clematis with this label. The International Clematis Registrar writes "C. flammula var. maritima is said to be a variety that is adapted to growing on sand-dunes around the Mediterranean. It is not recognised in Flora Europaea and I do not know how (if at all) it differs morphologically from C. flammula itself. When I compiled the Register I found no records of it being cultivated. But I suspect it should be treated as a synonym of C. flammula - unless some other distinguishing character can be found."
