Clematis 'Silver Grey Lady'

This name came to light in a supplement to 'Amateur Gardening' dated 22nd July 1922 where the cultivar is illustrated. Clearly it is not the same cultivar as the Viticella Group 'Grey Lady'. Illustrated alongside 'Vesta' and 'Lord Londesborough', it is described as "mauve and grey" and probably belongs with them in the 'early large-flowered' group.

Mauve flowers with a greyish bar. Filaments yellow, anthers red.

Group: Early large-flowered group
Pruning: Light prune (Group 2)
Parentage:  Unknown
Further detail: Tepals: 8; overlapping, with slightly wavy margins, blunt
