Clematis 'Princess of Wales' (1875)

Large pale, bluey mauve-lilac flowers with white filaments and brown-purple anthers, red towards the base. Named for the Danish Princess who married Edward VII in 1863 when he was Prince of Wales and who later became Queen Alexandra. Reintroduced into the UK from New Zealand in 1968 by Jim Fisk.

Confusingly, the name was re-used for a different Jackman cultivar in the following year.
