Clematis 'Grunwald'

Medium to large, velvety dark violet-purple flowers with a slightly paler bar. Filaments creamy yellow-green; connectives and anthers violet-purple. Fruit-heads persistent. The name commemorates the village in north-east Poland where, on 15 July 1410, during one of the largest Medieval European battles, the Polish-Lithuanian military forces decisively defeated the German-Prussian Teutonic knights.
