Clematis 'Lech Kaczynski'

Large, violet-purple flowers with a redder bar. Stamens numerous; filaments white; connectives and anthers pale yellow. Seed-heads persistent. Named after the Polish politician who served as President from 2005 until he died in an air crash near Smolensk, Russia, in April 2010.
