Large grey-blue or violet flowers flushed red which age to blue-mauve with a purple-red bar. Red-purple anthers on white filaments. Slight scent of violets. In 1912, William Robinson in his book 'The Virgin's Bower' lists this cultivar as "trusted to give lovely effects if culture and position be all [it] deserves."
