Clematis 'Sympatia'

Large rosy-mauve flowers with brown or reddish-brown anthers.

As at April 2011 there are some questions circulating about this cultivar. We have seen several photographs like our first (including on plant labels), but equally we have seen many photos like our second. Is this the same cultivar that fades badly or are there two plants in cultivation being sold as 'Sympatia'? Investigations continue! Our thanks to Katherine Wojcik in Canada for triggering this discussion.
