Clematis 'Lady Northcliffe'

Medium or large flowers, at first royal blue or Wedgwood-blue to deep blue-violet, fading to mid lavender-blue. Filaments white to cream, pale green at top, later tinged violet at base; white to pale greenish-yellow anthers, often with black tip. In 1912, William Robinson in his book 'The Virgin's Bower' lists this cultivar as "trusted to give lovely effects if culture and position be all [it] deserves."
