Medium velvet purple flowers with a red purple bar. Red-purple or brown anthers. The name means 'Sano violet'.

Further detail:	Flower diameter: 8-12cm Tepals: 6-8; obovate, overlapping, long-pointed Advice from Japan is that this variety should be a Group 1 for pruning purposes. A correspondent in Oregon, US says that there they treat it as a Group 3. I would be interested in further views.
