Clematis 'Percy Lake'

Medium to large mauve flowers with a pinkish tinge. Gold stamens. This Walter Pennell hybrid comes from seed sown in 1954 and was named in 1961 after the then company secretary. The International Clematis Society Newsletter in 1984 noted that the cultivar is 'not now grown by Pennells and [is] probably lost from the trade'. It appears, though, in Guido Toovere's 1992 list of large flowered clematis available in Estonia.
