Clematis 'Gekkyuuden'

Large flowered, fragrant, yellow cultivar from Japan. White filaments bearing pale yellow anthers. Considered to be the most yellow of the cream large flowered forms (cf 'Guernsey Cream', 'Manshuu Ki'). In cool climates and/or at cool times of year the flowers are more creamy green (see photos).

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the colour of plants in the trade has become less strong over a period of decades.
