Small nodding flowers, pale yellow on the inside, deep brownish-purple on the outside, fading to yellow at the tips. Deep brownish-purple stamens. Collected from China by Harry Smith in 1924. According to Swedish 'legend', it is sometimes known as 'The Robber's Clematis' due to the fact that Harry Smith was mugged on this particular expedition. The robber left him with 'only his seeds and his life'. This particular clone was named by Magnus Johnson.
