Clematis 'Paddington'

Large reddish-purple flowers. As the flowers fade the wavy edges of the tepals become plummy red, the colour of the central bars remaining deeper. Pale pink filaments with deep red anthers. Raised by the late Frank Watkinson of Doncaster and introduced in 1991. Named after the famous bear. The one and only factory making Paddington Bear soft-toys was situated close to Watkinson's Nursery. Sadly the factory closed in 1998.
