To many minds the most impressive form of tangutica. Large (for the type) 7.5cm (3") long, coconut scented, bright yellow flowers with beige or yellow-green anthers, followed by equally long seed heads. 'Lambton Park' has an exceptionally long season, the first flowers opening in late May or early June and going on well into the autumn. The seedheads last very well giving a plant of year-round interest.

Tom Bennet tells us that "I [found] it growing, as a feature, at the now-defunct Lambton Park Garden Centre [County Durham, UK] in 1985. It had been there for a few years but they couldn't tell me where they'd had it from and it wasn't labelled.

"I took cuttings and hawked it around several clematis gurus (the late Vince Denny, John Treasure and Christopher Lloyd, included) who couldn't help me pin down a name either. I therefore registered it as fairly as I could with the name of the place I discovered it and distributed it around the trade. I'm pleased to see that it's doing so well in the lists..."
