Large, flat, semi-double dark red flowers, single in autumn, light grey hairs on the reverse. Stamens yellow. Seed-heads persistent.
Named to commemorate the King of Poland, Jan III Sobieski, commander in their victorious battle with the Turks at Vienna in 1683.
