Clematis montana var grandiflora
Dense white flowers with yellow anthers, fragrant on a sunny day (although the International Clematis Register and Checklist 2002 says unscented). Deep grey-green foliage. According to Robin Savill, this form was introduced from North India by Veitch, flowering for the first time in 1844. This plant has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
