Clematis 'Polonia Restituta'

Large, flat or flattish velvety, maroon flowers with a reddish bar. Filaments pale purple, anthers yellow. Seed heads persistent.

The Order of Polonia Restituta (in English it translates to Order of the Rebirth of Poland) is a Polish State Order which was established on 4th February 1921. It is awarded for outstanding achievements in the fields of education, science, sport, culture, art, economics, national defence, social work, civil service, or for furthering good relations between countries.

Tepals: 4-6; 7-9 cm long x 3.5-4 cm wide, elliptic, slightly overlapping at base to having gaps between sepals, with slightly wavy margins, long-pointed acute tip with apiculus, sepal margins rolled inwards when young revealing pale purplish grey colour
