Clematis 'Lady Caroline Nevill'
Large mauve flowers with a slightly darker bar, often semi-double (occasionally, fully double) in June, later in the year single. Anthers white but with red connective. In 1912, William Robinson in his book 'The Virgin's Bower' lists this cultivar as "trusted to give lovely effects if culture and position be all [it] deserves." Our own experience suggests that this cultivar will fade virtually to white in full sun.
