Clematis 'Purple Haze'

Medium violet purple flowers fading to white in the centre. Yellow-brown anthers. The plant has prominent beetroot coloured leafy bracts behind the flowers. Charlie Pridham tells us that it is named partly after the song by Jimmy Hendrix and partly because of the overall effect of flower and foliage.
